Position: College and Career Associate CASC-VISTA LeFlore County

Overview

The Early College & Career Connections (EC3) VISTA project aligns with Carl Albert State College’s (CASC) mission of “Providing affordable, accessible, & exceptional education that fosters student success”. CASC has a history of partnering with schools & communities in Sequoyah and LeFlore Counties. The VISTA EC3 project provides career & college resources for students, parents & school personnel in LeFlore & Sequoyah counties.

This 3-year initiative increases capacity by aligning with VISTA goals for Economic Opportunity & Education. VISTA members will be phased in for each county by the school year 2025. Anticipated annual impact will be more than 1,000 student-family combinations. EC3 Associates will contribute by coordinating volunteer support for career/college fairs, supporting school counselors with ICAP-related resources, connecting school personnel & students with appropriate Career Tech Centers, college admissions staff, or military recruiters.

EC3 Associates will match ICAP resources with procedures, policy & language used by these partners to help school personnel, students & families better understand career & college options beyond high school, & how to get there. In February 2026 two EC3 Associates will start in LeFlore County schools with more added in the spring/summer. Experienced educators that understand Career Tech & K-20 models are ideal candidates for EC3 Associate positions.

This VISTA project will encourage students to get a head-start on career & college goals; attending Career Tech Centers or through college credit courses while in high school. EC3 will aid families by providing support mechanisms for concurrent enrollment, financial aid, scholarship applications, internships, workforce placement, military recruiting, & pathways to college degrees.
