Duties
* You will set up and operate most types of conventional and CNC machine tools.
* You will work from blueprints, sketches, work orders, models, or other specifications; select proper cutting tools, attachments, fixtures, feeds, speeds, coolant, lubricant, or abrasive as appropriate based on material and part configuration.
* You will operate machines using CAD/CAM generated programs, manual data inputs, or a direct numerical control (DNC) system.
* You will perform precision handwork (filing, scraping, lapping) to fit, assemble, and finish machined parts using various bench mounted and handheld power tools and hand tools (e.g., files, drills, reamers, buffers, die grinders, scrapers).
* You will apply shop mathematics and handbook formulas to compute/verify dimensions in planning, layout, and final check processes. Requirements Conditions of employment

* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

* Ability to set up CNC machines and operate a variety of machine tools and to debug programs developed by higher-graded workers to perform complex machining operations.
* Ability to initiate action to repair including partial or complete disassembly, inspection, preparation of condition reports, repair, re-assembly and testing.
