A maintenance mechanic is responsible for the entire operating facility, repairs, and preventative maintenance (PM), as well as special projects. The role includes maintaining all heavy equipment in the facility—including balers, sort line, loaders, forklifts—regularly scheduled PM and minor repairs. Inspect the building, grounds, and equipment and work under the supervision of the Plant Manager.
Responsibilities- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all processing and support systems to specifications consistent with all Federal and State fire, safety and environmental regulations.
- Resolve technical issues presented throughout a shift, investigate and identify a solution.
- Increase equipment reliability through ownership of continuous improvement and preventive maintenance.
- Demonstrate and lead by example a commitment to safe behavior and to making the plant a safer place to work. Support/drive hazard identification, risk assessments, and risk controls efforts.
- Coordinate closely with Plant Manager and operations.
- Support preoperative and postoperative inspection of the equipment and ensure necessary repairs are entered and actioned within the CMMS.
- Act as emergency coordinator for the plant.
- Adhere to and ensure all company, and regulatory safety standards and rules are followed.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Required:
- Equivalent of high school diploma or G.E.D. certification. Technical certifications are highly desired.
- 3 or more years of direct experience maintaining same or similar machinery in a production or processing environment.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining pneumatic systems.
- Experience troubleshooting hydraulic equipment, circuits, and components.
- Experience reading technical drawings and schematics.
- Motor and Gearbox replacements.
Preferred:
- Experience with industrial controls (valves, sensors, actuators, control systems, Electro Hydraulic Experience, conveyor (tracking), rollers).
- Experience selecting appropriate circuit protectors, wire and cable, sensors, safety hardware, PLC hardware, remote I/O, VFD and servo systems.
