Why This Role MattersThe Lead Janitor plays a key role in ensuring high‑quality custodial services are delivered in compliance with Federal contract requirements. This position provides daily leadership, coordination, and oversight of custodial staff while upholding Didlake's mission to create opportunities that enrich the lives of people with disabilities.
What You Will Do- Provide overall direction, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of custodial staff assigned to the contract.
- Plan, assign, and direct work in accordance with contract requirements, Didlake policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
- Clean hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevator banks, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
- Clean floors using brooms, mops, and powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
- Polish metalwork such as fixtures and fittings.
- Wash windows, door panels, and sills.
- Empty wastebaskets and remove trash.
- Replenish bathroom and floor supplies.
- Assign tasks, issue supplies and equipment, and inspect completed work for quality and compliance with standards.
- Train employees on assigned work, proper use of equipment, supplies, and safety procedures.
- Address employee and customer concerns, resolving issues or referring them to a supervisor as needed.
- Serve as a role model by demonstrating dependability, strong work ethic, business ethics, and professional appearance.
- Foster a positive team environment and support quality performance.
- Complete required paperwork and documentation accurately and timely.
- Act as a good steward of employer and government resources.
- Follow all safety standards and guidelines in the use of equipment and job‑related activities.
- Fill in for general cleaning staff as needed.
- Transport teams, supplies, and equipment to worksites as required.
- Complete and maintain all required Didlake training.
