Responsibilities
Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers intensive residential treatment services within a secure setting. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of youth ages 7‑17 who are experiencing emotional, psychiatric, and educational difficulties. In addition to our general psychiatric programs, we also offer specialty programs for youth with more serious challenges.
Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities. We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. We are a TRICARE‑approved and certified facility.

Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center currently has a full‑time Milieu Manager position available.
Milieu Manager- Provides clinical leadership and supervision to direct care staff.
- Works in association with the DON, CEO and Director of Clinical Operations to ensure consistency in care provided by the residential care staff and the clinical staff.
- Implements programming and provides ongoing training and supervision to create and maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu.
- Coordinates and assigns direct care staff to the units facilitates accurate communication among flex pool staff.

Must possess demonstrated leadership ability, the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and individuals, and strong oral and written communication skills. Must possess knowledge of therapeutic relationships as relates to adolescents, therapeutic processes, adolescent growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management of aggressive behavior, and CPR. An individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily.

Education:
Prefer a bachelor’s degree in social work or psychology. Minimum of a high school diploma/G.E.D.
Licensure/Certification:
Handle with Care, CPR and First Aid.
Experience:
A minimum of two years of experience working in a residential facility for children, of which one year must be supervisory. Five years of experience working with children is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to verbally de‑escalate and physically restrain when necessary. Ability to exercise self‑control in potentially volatile situations, work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise and foot traffic, and move from one task to another. Must be flexible and not easily frustrated in dealing with differences of opinion. Individual must be able to remain on his/her feet for long periods of time, frequently walking around the building to supervise staff or assist staff during a crisis.
Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken word during activities requiring clear and rapid instruction. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and perceive attributes of objects by touch. Hearing for sounds with no less than 40 dB loss at 1000 Hz and 2000 Hz with or without correction; ability to perceive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound.
Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Requires a minimum standard of visual acuity to complete administrative and clerical tasks and to observe patients in therapeutic activities.
