Duties
* You will perform complex nondestructive testing and analysis on non-routine mechanical components, piping systems, and structural assemblies related to Naval surface ships and submarines.
* You will perform calibration and safety checks of test equipment prior to and after performance of Nondestructive Test (NDT) inspections.
* You will conduct radiographic operations and/or serve as a Radiographer-in-Charge (RIC) for nuclear and non-nuclear radiographic inspections.
* You will participate in audits, submit reports and recommendations and maintain files, charts and status reports on progress inspections/documents completed.
* You will arrange for correction of deficiencies and re-inspection of repaired items and recommend remedies for particular problems.
* You will be responsible for assuring materials, processes and fabrication techniques meet specification and contractual requirements. Requirements Conditions of employment

* This is a bargaining unit position.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Nondestructive test inspector Level III certification.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* This position requires rotating shift work. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Ability to Inspect
* Ability to utilize a wide array of highly sophisticated, quality control inspection/NDT techniques.
* Ability to understand how to set up and read an oscilloscope to be able to understand ultrasonic testing on work being performed.
* Ability to operate and manipulate complex robotic scanners, probe drivers and x-ray source positioners in both manual and automated modes.
* Ability to interpret complex signal displays and radiographic film images and use judgement to determine acceptance of items.
* Ability to read and interpret complicated written technical material as instructions, TGI's, specifications, procedures, sketches and blueprints.
* Ability to interpret and comprehend diagrams, blueprints, specifications, and interrelated procedure and technical requirements to meet critical job applications.
