Overview

Job Title: Electrical Fitter

Location: Portsmouth
Project: Naval Shipbuilding Programme
Contract: 12‑month PAYE (Inside IR35)

Shift Pattern: Day-based working (Flexibility required to meet operational demands)

Pay Rates

  • Hourly Rate: £20.00 - £25.00 (Inside IR35)
  • Holiday: Accrued or included (depending on option selected)

Our client delivers critical ship repair, maintenance and support services on Navy vessels and commercial fleets. Operating in a safety‑critical naval environment, they play a key role in sustaining frontline maritime capability.

What You ll Be Doing

As an Electrical Technician
, you ll carry out industrial electrical work across a range of naval and commercial vessels. The role requires strong electrical knowledge, a flexible approach and a commitment to safe, high‑quality delivery in a team-based environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out industrial electrical installation, maintenance and repair
  • Apply ship repair and support techniques across live naval assets
  • Work safely in confined spaces and at height
  • Follow RN-specific safety procedures and safe systems of work
  • Support tasks outside core trade when required
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality and customer service
  • Comply with SHE requirements and company H&S policies
What You ll Need to Succeed

Essential:

  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems
  • Experience with in ship repair, marine or offshore environments
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work (electrical, confined spaces, WAH)
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and associated equipment
  • Team-focused, flexible and safety-conscious approach
