Mountjoy Ltd is contracted to the Isle of Wight Council, Vectis Housing Association, Wetherspoons, RNLI and other clients to provide the day-to-day repairs and planned maintenance to various buildings across the Isle of Wight.
We are seeking a conscientious and enthusiastic fitter multi, to work as part of a team, with a can-do attitude and highly flexible approach to support in the delivery of high-quality repairs and maintenance works to domestic and commercial properties. The individual must maintain a professional appearance and attitude and be always polite and courteous.
The trades persons must have relevant qualifications with broad commercial and domestic experience in their core trade. Additional experience and capability to complete tasks outside their core competency is preferred.
Key activities you will undertake in this role will be:A wide variety of repairs and planned work in occupied and unoccupied residential properties, corporate and civic buildings. The work will include but not be limited to, reactive maintenance repairs, Kitchen, bathroom and DFG refurbishments. The ability to carry out to a good standard ceramic wall tiling and decorative works as part of an upgrade is essential.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and rectify faults across core trades, carrying out multi-trade repairs and planned works to an excellent standard in occupied and void homes, and corporate/civic buildings.
- Deliver end-to-end kitchen, bathroom, and wet room upgrades, including strip-out, first-fix and second fix plumbing and carpentry, floor and wall preparation, tanking/waterproofing, tray former setting, sanitaryware installation, tiling, trims/sealant, commissioning, and handover.
- Carry out a wide range of carpentry works: door sets and linings (including fire doors where required), first and second fix, kitchen unit installation and worktop fitting with mitred joints.
- Carry out a wide range of plumbing works: reactive repairs, bathroom refurbishments, pipework alterations, press-fit and traditional jointing, isolation/commissioning, and rainwater goods. Confident with press gun and pipe freezing kit.
- Complete associated multi-trade tasks to finish standards, including ceramic wall tiling and minor decorative and basic carpentry tasks linked to upgrades and repairs.
- Carry out fire door remedials and full installations to a competent standard, including frames/linings, intumescent and smoke seals, hinges, closers, letterplates, signage and final adjustments. Record before/after photos, leaf-to-frame gaps etc as required.
- Support colleagues across trades to ensure a professional, safe, and customer-focused repairs service; respond swiftly to emergencies and high-priority situations.
- Use PDA to record work, materials, and photographic evidence; keep customers and the office updated on progress and any disruption.
- Always Apply Health & Safety using RAMS and appropriate PPE; maintain tools, plant, and equipment in safe working order.
- Participate in the out-of-hours rota when required; maintain the company vehicle in a clean, roadworthy condition and report defects promptly.
- Uphold the Mountjoy values and be an inclusive part of the team, sharing learning and good practice.
- To be trained to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent for a minimum of 7 years or more.
- Be fully competent in all aspects of full kitchen, bathroom and DFG installations.
- Be familiar and confident with use of a press gun and pipe freezing kit.
- Competent and willing to work with rainwater goods as and when required.
- Competent in all aspects of fire door remedials and fitting, including frames and linings, with proven ability to achieve compliant gaps, install/adjust ironmongery and closers.
- Able to use the phone or PDA to communicate effectively, explaining yourself clearly and concisely understanding what information you need or need to provide.
- Be comfortable in dealing with residents, representatives of corporate properties and clients whilst always remaining professional.
- Have an organised approach to meet the demands of Mountjoy in an effective and timely manner.
