Salary: £65,000 + Bonus
We’re on the hunt for a Head of Conveyancing to lead a property team because, let's face it, houses don’t sell themselves.
Whether you’re a Conveyancing Solicitor, Legal Executive, or Licensed Conveyancer, if you are an experienced conveyancer with enough know‑how to answer tough questions, keep things moving, and lead a team (with just the right amount of charm and authority), we want you!
Think of this as your chance to be the Beyoncé of property law, except with more land registry forms and fewer costume changes.
The FirmThey’ve been serving the fine folks of Portsmouth and Hampshire for over 125 years, so you could say they know a thing or two about the law (and the occasional vintage legal quirk!). Laws may have changed, but their commitment to helping clients through life’s ups, downs, and house moves remains as strong as ever.
You’ll be joining a growing team that thrives on positivity, energy, and collaboration across departments. There’s a real sense of camaraderie you might even catch them singing “Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside” (not one of Beyoncé hits but - oh well).
What You’ll Be Doing (Other Than Looking Fabulous)- Juggle a caseload of residential property matters—freehold, leasehold, shared ownership, remortgages, or new builds—with style.
- Lead and motivate our team, ensuring everyone’s on top form (and not just because there’s cake in the kitchen).
- Network like a legal social butterfly, bringing in business and charming clients with your knowledge and professionalism.
- Supervise your capable assistant, who will take care of the nitty‑gritty (like opening and closing files) so you can focus on the big stuff.
- Keep everything running smoothly with the firm’s CRM, case‑management system, and post‑completion tasks—keep the legal train on the tracks.
- Handle recruitment and HR duties for the department. Yes, you’ll be a boss, but we promise not to ask you to wear a tie (unless that’s your thing).
We need someone who’s been around the conveyancing block a few times: five or more years of residential conveyancing experience is ideal. If you know your way around the conveyancing process and can confidently say, “I’ve got this,” we’d love to meet you. Bonus points if you can keep calm under pressure (and maybe crack a joke while you’re at it).
Skills& Experience
- Expert knowledge of residential conveyancing.
- A proven track record of managing a caseload without dropping any plates.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Client charm—keeping clients happy is 90% of the job (the other 10% is knowing how to work the coffee machine).
- A knack for business development.
- Competitive salary plus bonus.
- Flexible working hours—find times that suit you as long as those clients are happy.
- Workplace pension.
Ready to lead the charge? If you’re a conveyancing superstar looking for a role where you can make a real impact, we want to hear from you! Let’s make legal history together (or, at the very least, help some folks buy their dream homes).
