Principal Systems Engineer

Salary: Circa £67,000 (dependent on skills and experience)

• Ensure the FTEWA TDP (Force Threat Evaluation & Weapon Assignment, Technical Demonstrator Programme) solution meets the product vision, interprets product requirements, documents high‑level design decisions and specifies the technical solution.
• Create and maintain software design artefacts, including:
  • Analysis of system and software requirements
  • System specification
  • Internal and external interface definition
  • Identification and management of technical risk
  • Sell‑off of product requirements
• Support the Dev Sec Ops  approach to development: coordinate design activity across component design and architectural features; determine which design elements move into upcoming Sprint(s) and ensure sufficient maturity.
• Maintain system and software design integrity and safety to meet required maturity and quality for FTEWA TDP.
• Provide technical assurance of engineering outputs, including detailed designs, interface specifications and qualification evidence.

• System and software design expertise
• Ability to manage complex technical issues and make engineering judgments based on knowledge and experience
• Hands‑on knowledge of Enterprise Architect
• Experience operating within Agile software development methodology (Dev Sec Ops )
• Experience with Azure cloud computing environment
• Knowledge of requirements analysis, configuration management, human factors, interface analysis, performance analysis, product safety

Engineers should hold an academic qualification in Engineering or related STEM subjects. Professional accreditation through a recognised institution is preferred; support is available to achieve Chartered or Incorporated Engineering status.
