Security Clearance: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR you will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check)

About The Role

Passionate about Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology? Looking to develop ideas for the future of SAR instrumentation and Space? Interested in working on studies and projects for Earth Observation, Science and Space Exploration? Then we'd love to hear from you!

This is genuinely a role that doesn’t arise often and people from Academia or Industry are welcomed. As a Synthetic Aperture Radar Specialist Engineer, you will be joining a small dedicated SAR team, with close connections to a larger Microwave Instruments Engineering community in the UK and with other Airbus Defence and Space sites across Europe.

How You Will Contribute To The Team

  • Work on short and long term industry and academic SAR projects or studies. Including analysis, technical design and development of future concepts and existing Synthetic Aperture Radar systems
  • Support proposal writing and the bids process
  • Develop and maintain performance models. Establishing performance analysis to enable understanding and interpretation of overall system requirements and translation to instrument and Payload performance parameters.
  • Undertake technical trade‑off to determine the most appropriate solution in response to multiple input factors.
  • Support peer review of studies, projects and proposals.

About You

  • Technical expertise and experience in design and operation of Synthetic Aperture Radar instrumentation
  • Knowledge and experience of SAR image processing theory including algorithm development and implementation
  • An interest in learning about and supporting the bid process, maturity gate reviews, proposal writing.
