We are seeking a passionate and resilient SEMH Teacher to join a supportive SEMH / alternative provision school in Portsmouth. This is a full-time position starting ASAP, potentially running until the end of the academic year, and offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact on the lives of pupils who need it most. This SEMH Teacher role is ideal for someone who thrives in a nurturing, relationship-focused environment and is confident working as a key stage 2 teacher within an alternative provision setting.
As a SEMH Teacher, you will take full teaching responsibility for a key stage 2 teacher timetable, delivering engaging and adapted lessons that meet the academic, emotional and social needs of pupils. You will be expected to plan, teach and assess, while building strong, consistent relationships that support positive behaviour and learning outcomes. The school is looking for a key stage 2 teacher who understands the importance of structure, routine and flexibility, and who can remain calm, patient and proactive in challenging situations.
The school, based in Portsmouth, has a strong focus on inclusion, wellbeing and long-term pupil development. Staff work closely together to ensure every SEMH Teacher feels supported, valued and able to do their best work. To be successful in this SEMH Teacher position, you should ideally hold QTS and have a good level of experience working as a key stage 2 teacher, particularly with children who have SEMH or additional needs.
Experience with in alternative provision, PRUs or specialist settings would be highly beneficial, but strong mainstream experience as a key stage 2 teacher with relevant SEN exposure will also be considered.
This full-time SEMH Teacher role runs Monday to Friday during normal school hours in Portsmouth, with full teaching responsibilities and the chance to see real progress in your pupils.
