Overview
ANGLO Leaders (ALs) are responsible for planning and running a leisure programme for teenagers. This includes leading a variety of sports and creative activities, acting as a guide on trips to places of interest, and running social events such as talent shows, themed discos, and quiz nights. ALs should chat with students, encourage them to use English and ensure they enjoy their time in the UK.
Role& Responsibilities
- Develop and lead high-quality, engaging activities that meet the needs of ANGLO teenage students.
- Lead fun, structured and communicative workshop sessions with ANGLO students.
- Lead full and half day excursions.
- Supervise the students during their stay, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Prepare for and lead groups of students on full and half-day excursions, give basic information about places visited, stimulate interest and communicate with them throughout.
- Lead well-organised activity sessions (sports, discos, games, crafts, etc.) with enthusiasm and creativity.
- Lead engaging workshops with enthusiasm, following guidelines laid out by the Workshop and Teaching Supervisor (WTS).
- Report to and liaise with the AM (excursions, activities, and meal duties) and WTS (workshops).
- Assist with arrivals and departures.
- Help supervise students during meals, on campus and in accommodation.
- Assist in the event of an emergency.
- Report to and liaise with the Activity Manager.
- Supervise and encourage students to participate in all aspects of the programme.
- Encourage students to speak English at all times.
- Report student absences or sickness at the beginning of each session.
- Show sensitivity to the group and individuals, creating a positive learning environment.
- Read and respond to risk assessments, report risks for all activities on and off campus, and check equipment for safe usage.
- Respond to feedback from students and group leaders.
- Be the face of ANGLO by wearing any provided uniform and upholding ANGLO’s ethos of care; be committed to welfare and safeguarding of students and group leaders.
Essential (Please do not apply if you do not meet these requirements)
- You have the right to work 40+ hours per week in the UK between June and August.
- You attend the mandatory training weekend in London.
- Confident, professional, enthusiastic and able to lead 10–18 year olds.
- Computer literate and competent with Google products (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Gmail, etc.).
- Approachable, friendly and able to build rapport with young people.
- Demonstrate strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team player attitude.
- Ability to work under pressure, strong work ethic and ability to implement change at short notice.
Desirable
- First aid/lifeguarding qualification.
- Experience of working with young people.
- Route planning experience.
- Enthusiasm for sightseeing.
- Studying for or holding a related degree.
Safeguarding and policies
ANGLO is committed to implementing Safeguarding and Prevent policies and guidelines. All successful applicants will be required to take online certification in-line with ANGLO policies and procedures. All ANGLO staff are required to have enhanced DBS clearance to begin work. BenefitsBed & Board: Residential position. Full bed and board is provided.
Hours: Average 40 hours per week may be required to work in excess of 48 hours per week. Evening and weekend work are required. You’ll work a six-day week and get one full day off per week. Centres with a final London weekend have a condensed block of approximately 30 hours across 3 days for ALs who participate in these trips.
Pay: £569.76 per week, based on 40 hours, holiday pay included. Plus paid residential Training Weekend. No overtime payment unless agreed with Head Office.
Contract: Temporary, fixed term.
Preparation: Safeguarding training and timetabling information provided before you start. Comprehensive training provided at Training Weekend. Continued on-the-job support given.
