Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting confident and adaptable Cover Supervisors to provide supply cover across secondary schools in and around the Portsmouth area, with opportunities to work in schools local to the successful applicant.

This role is ideal for individuals seeking flexible work, those looking to gain hands-on classroom experience, or anyone considering a future career in education. As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee classes of students aged 11–16 in the absence of the usual teacher, ensuring a calm, purposeful learning environment while pupils complete pre-set work.

You will be expected to manage classroom behaviour, keep students on task, and support learning across a variety of subjects and year groups. There may also be opportunities to assist pupils with special educational needs, depending on the school and placement.

Successful candidates will be confident in a classroom setting, adaptable to different school environments, and able to respond positively to the varying demands of supply work. Previous experience working with secondary-aged students is desirable but not essential. Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a genuine interest in supporting young people are key to succeeding in this role.

We offer competitive daily rates of pay ranging from £100 to £130, depending on experience, with both short-term and long-term supply opportunities available. You will benefit from working with a range of welcoming and supportive schools, alongside ongoing guidance and support from Teaching Personnel’s dedicated recruitment team.

If you are enthusiastic about education and keen to make a positive impact in local schools, we would be delighted to hear from you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
