Overview

The role involves coordinating responses to critical incidents involving vulnerable students not currently receiving support. It includes leading the development and delivery of new support programs for vulnerable, hard to reach, or underrepresented newly enrolled students. The role assists faculty and professional services staff in supporting students with welfare and pastoral issues by providing information, advice, and signposting to specialist support services.

It involves assisting staff to manage individual crises and critical situations involving vulnerable students not currently accessing services, usually by gathering information and referring cases to senior management. The role also oversees training and standardization of welfare and pastoral service provision across the university by developing training, creating resources, analysing data to improve services, and working with staff to develop new approaches to prevent recurring issues.

Additionally, it involves raising awareness on welfare issues and coordinating activities to enhance the overall student experience and ease transition into university.

Whilst there is a need to be in Portsmouth a few days a week, hybrid working is available for this role.

The interviews are currently anticipated to be held on 02 March 2026.

An enhanced with child barred and workforce DBS check is required for this post.
