THIS IS A 7 PA POST

Applicants are invited to apply for the position of a less than full-time consultant Rheumatologist at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.

The successful applicant will join an existing team of eight consultants, over fifteen specialist nurses, one extended scope physiotherapist, four specialist trainees (three NTNs and one locally employed doctor), one to two GP trainees, one foundation trainee and a dedicated administrative team.

The Portsmouth Rheumatology department has developed a number of local bespoke services utilising the full multidisciplinary team (MDT). It provides in‑patient, outpatient, day‑case and fracture liaison services and delivers speciality‑specific on‑call commitments as well as some community‑based care. It has received recognition and multiple awards for its services supporting patients with auto‑immune inflammatory and bone‑health conditions and has six ultrasound machines available for clinician use.

The department is also actively engaged in research.

There is a weekly MDT education meeting and specialist radiology meeting, and the department delivers undergraduate medical student teaching (for Portsmouth and Southampton Universities) and postgraduate training.

Rheumatology sits within a musculoskeletal clinical service group with close links with trauma and orthopaedic and chronic pain services.

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team and contribute to the ongoing development of a high‑quality Rheumatology service within our Trust. Applicants should be registered with the GMC and have a licence to practise. Applicants should have a CCT in Rheumatology or be within six months of an expected CCT date at the time of interview.
