Housekeeper - Non-Patient Care

Works under the supervision of the Environmental Services Manager. The Housekeeper's primary job function is repetitive cleaning tasks in maintaining assigned area in an attractive, orderly and sanitary condition according to established procedures. While performing the duties of this role, the employee is required to stand, walk, push and pull equipment, use arm, leg and back muscles for extended periods, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb, stoop, kneel or crouch.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more. Perform other duties as assigned. Experience in stripping and waxing floors is a plus.

• Clean all assigned areas following department policies and procedures for the specific areas.
• Remove trash from assigned areas, empty and clean all waste baskets, and properly dispose of infectious and hazardous waste.
• Vacuum, sweep, dust, and wet mop floors with disinfectant; vacuum carpets as needed, buff floors, and recondition as required.
• Carry out detailed but simple written or oral instructions by applying common-sense understanding.
• Obtain materials and supplies from designated areas and restock supplies on a daily basis.
• Demonstrate knowledge of environmental services chemicals and their proper use.
• Report all items in need of repair to the supervisor.
• Keep equipment, closet, and cart neat, clean, and organized.

• Basic literary skills required.
• Experience in stripping and waxing floors is a plus.
