GENERAL SUMMARY
Works under the supervision of the Same Day Surgery Nurse Manager. The Perioperative Liaison/Nursing Assistant/Unit Clerk's primary job function is to provide service to patients and families waiting in the Same Day Surgery lobby by providing information regarding surgery, patient progress, and hospital information as appropriate per HIPAA. Will also perform a variety of basic patient care activities for the personal needs and comfort of patients and may perform clerical duties associated with preparing, compiling, and maintaining patients' records.
The Perioperative Liaison/Nursing Assistant/Unit Clerk will work with the staff in SDS, Surgery, and PACU to maintain a smooth flow of patients through the perioperative area. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
- Ability to read and speak English required.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology required.
Licensure:
- BLS within 90 days of hire required
Experience:
- Experience in a related field with specialized knowledge i.e., conflict resolution, interpersonal communications, medical terminology, the working knowledge of a hospital, especially surgical services preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge.
