Youth Development, Guidance Counselor: Social/Educational
Who is Eligible?
Bachelor’s level students who are rising Seniors majoring in Social Work, Psychology, Family Studies or any other mental health related field.
Program OverviewSeacoast Mental Health Center is offering a Bachelor’s Level Internship Program for eligible students.
Selection Process & RequirementsInterested students should complete an application and submit their resume, cover letter, and a letter of recommendation from a Department Chair, professor or academic advisor from a current or previous academic institution.

Selected candidates will be contacted within two weeks after the closing period for interview scheduling. Successful candidates will undergo background checks (driving, criminal, BEAS, OIG, sex offender, DCYF). Once cleared, a start date will be set. This is an unpaid internship.
Learning ExperienceThe internship takes place in person during Fall and Spring semesters. Students are expected to commit 16 hours per week, divided into two full days (hours may be negotiated).
Students will be embedded within the Adult Services and Youth and Family Departments, participating in daily team activities. Initially, students will shadow staff during community service. As confidence grows, and with supervisor sanction, students may work independently with clients on a small caseload. Attendance at educational meetings is required.
SupervisionInterns receive one hour of weekly supervision. Preferably, interns attend the weekly team meetings when schedule allows.
