• Under supervision of the Critical Care Director, the Cardiac Surgery Stepdown Unit (CSSU) Nurse Manager oversees the Cardiac Surgery Stepdown Unit staff and works closely with the department director, clinical educator, resource nurses and ICU manager to guide the department’s growth, patient satisfaction, physician relations and fiscal responsibility.
• Maintains clinical knowledge of areas within the department.
• Manages day-to-day operations involving scheduling, patient-team rounding and ensuring patient and family satisfaction.
• Assists unit educator with competency development and execution.
• Assists resource nurse with admission, transfer or discharge coordination.
• Assists department director in interviewing and hiring personnel.
• Assists the unit director with monitoring and evaluation of employee performance, implementation of learning plans and completion of staff yearly evaluations.
• Provides leadership in compliance with regulatory agency standards, national nursing standards and specialty nursing standards.
• Assists in monitoring the delivery of high-quality patient care and evaluating patient optimal outcomes.
• Assists unit director with budget formulation and execution.
• Maintains quality audits and monitors daily core measures.
• Assists with monitoring, management and ordering of supplies.
• Assists in the procurement, monitoring, maintenance and purchasing of capital and non-capital equipment.
• The nurse manager will oversee departmental operations in the absence of the director and manage issues outside scope to Senior Leadership as needed.
• Will assist staff in the direct delivery of patient care during extreme volume surges and when internal or external crises arise.
• Will participate in staff rounding, meetings, Cardiac Surgery Stepdown Unit and related committee meetings.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

• 1+ years of leadership experience.
• Critical Care experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• NH RN License or Compact State RN License.
• ACLS within 30 days of hire.
• BLS within 30 days of hire.
