SummaryThe Quality Engineer – BLA will plan, coordinate, and direct quality assurance programs on the manufacturing floor to ensure continuous production of products that meet established customer requirements. This role works closely with manufacturing sites to ensure timely completion of a variety of quality improvement activities.
Responsibilities- Perform statistical analysis to analyze trends, work with site functional groups to investigate root causes and recommend corrective actions for processes and products.
- Develop and lead quality improvement projects, prioritizing metrics such as cost of quality, inspection data, and customer quality escapes.
- Prepare reports by collecting, interpreting, analyzing and summarizing data and present solution proposals.
- Perform quality audits and set quality standards for incoming materials, in‑process finished goods, and finished product materials.
- Lead cross‑functional teams in continuous improvement efforts and transfer best practices across all sites when applicable.
- Report on complex quality analyses of defective products and recommend necessary quality procedures and process changes.
- Ensure compliance throughout all quality testing and validation phases.
- Provide technical leadership and assist in training on problem‑solving techniques and quality tools.
- Lead mitigation of customer complaints as part of a cross‑functional team.
- Review control of nonconformance material disposition and inspection of reworked product.
- Support the product development process by providing key quality inputs.
- Facilitate and train problem‑solving activities through the 8D process, DMAIC principles, and 5‑why problem solving.
- Assist manufacturing quality managers with RPN reduction by creating and enhancing PFMEAs, control plans, and process flows.
- Establish, analyze, and drive quality process performance across operations.
- Follow and promote good safety practices according to Shoals objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred) or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience in a quality role.
- Minimum 1 year of Statistical Process Control (SPC) experience.
- Experience creating work instructions, procedures, and developing control plans.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite and Minitab or comparable software.
- Root‑cause analysis techniques.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- GD&T experience.
- Ability to work in both team and individual environments.
- Attention to detail.
- Willingness to work on-site in Portland, Tennessee.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Certified Quality Engineer.
- Six Sigma Green Belt.
