Job Summary:
To support growth of the company, Fleet Services By Cox Automotive is currently hiring a Mobile Trailer Technician I to join our team. - $2500 New Hire Bonus, 50% after 30 days and 50% after 180 days
- Perform DOT inspections and preventative maintenance on trailers and equipment in a mobile/field environment, including scheduled PMs and follow-up repairs.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on trailers equipment and systems (trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps and engines, liftgates, brake chambers).
- Document work according to company standards, upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings on Repair Orders (RO) using an iOS device and the TRAIT application.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
- Follow safe operating practices and procedures.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Apply knowledge gained through formal training or on-the-job experience to perform the job; work with and evaluate technical information.
- Communicate with clients to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, or satisfy expectations.
- Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
- Act with integrity, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to ethical standards.
- Respond to call center dispatched unscheduled service and maintenance requests.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, trailer tools, welding equipment, and jacks.
- Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
- Maintain high productivity and work within or close to standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.
- Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals on repair estimates, PO numbers, and RO findings.
- Perform work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- Participate in company-required safety training.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers and vendors; communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Maintain the service truck and conduct safety checks and daily pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures; stay up-to-date on safety protocols.
- High School Diploma/GED and up to 2 years of related experience.
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
- OEM training and certifications are preferred.
- Complete all required company training.
- DOT/FMCSA regulations apply; candidate must pass a DOT pre-employment background screening and a DOT physical prior to employment.
- A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may be substituted for a DOT physical; if four months or less remain, a DOT physical will be required.
- Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate commerce regulations; valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
