Position Overview
We are seeking a Junior Maintenance Technician to join our property management maintenance team in an apprentice-style role. This position is an entry-level role for an individual with little to no formal maintenance experience who is interested in developing a career in building maintenance or the skilled trades.
The Junior Maintenance Technician will work under the guidance of senior technicians and receive hands-on training in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance. Over time, this role will transition to completing assigned tasks independently, including apartment turnover work.
Key Responsibilities- Assist senior maintenance technicians with daily maintenance and repair activities
- Learn and perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance tasks
- Support apartment turnover processes, including painting, patching, fixture replacement, and general repairs
- Complete routine maintenance tasks as training progresses
- Follow established safety procedures and maintenance standards
- Maintain tools, work spaces, and maintenance areas in a clean and organized manner
- Respond to work orders and complete tasks in a timely and professional manner
- Great attitude and strong willingness to learn
- No prior maintenance experience required; training will be provided
- Must be at least 18 years old and have at least 1 year of work experience
- Post-secondary education, trade school interest, or hands-on experience in construction, landscaping, or related fields is a plus
- Ability to perform physical work, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, climbing, and working indoors and outdoors
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions
- Basic problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
- Structured, hands-on training with experienced maintenance professionals
- Exposure to multiple skilled trades (plumbing, electrical, carpentry)
