Travel Utility Excavator/Equipment Operator — this is a travel position with job sites in OR, WA, and position will be responsible for safely and skillfully operating and maintaining construction equipment (cable plows, backhoe, mini excavator, skid steer, rock saw, and other utility construction equipment). The job may also involve loading and unloading of equipment and materials using heavy equipment as well as any other tasks assigned by the foreman.
A Class A CDL is required for this position. Pay: $25‑36/hr, DOE. Daily per diem + travel accommodations.
- Operate all heavy machinery in a safe manner
- Dig trenches, back‑fill excavations, and compact & level earth to grade specifications
- Transport materials and equipment
- Load & unload equipment and material as needed
- Follow all on‑site safety procedures
- Ensure contents & equipment are properly secured during transportation
- Comply with all DOT regulations and rules
- Perform daily vehicle pre‑trip inspections and JHA
- Possess a valid CDL class A
- Experience operating heavy equipment and machinery
- Clean driving record (no more than 2 tickets in the last 5 years)
- Strong focus on quality and safety
- Excellent time management skills
- Pay is based on experience and skill set
This is a full‑time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. The position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. The outside work environment will vary throughout the day including changes in terrain, traffic, urban settings, and/or rural settings.
This position may occasionally be exposed to natural gas and to the risk of electrical shock. Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels.
The employee must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time), tolerate work in extreme weather conditions, speak and hear worksite safety instructions, and withstand repeated lifting and standing. Regularly lift 75 pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
