Position Overview

Security Officer (full time, day shift position) at Providence Portland Medical Center.

Job Description

Receives general direction from the Security Manager, Supervisor or Lead Security Officer, performs a variety of security protective duties to protect patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.

Enforces PH&S, facility and security policies and regulations. Investigates reports of potential criminal conduct against PH&S staff, visitors, staff, and property; responds and assists in restraining patients, detains individuals when necessary or at the direction of a police officer; and provides protective services to high‑risk areas.

Mobile positions will conduct vehicle and foot patrols, patient transports, site surveys, threat assessments, patient standbys, alarm/nuisance call response, special details and assist in training of clinic personnel.

May be required to support any Providence or affiliated organizations within the Oregon Region.

Required Qualifications
  • Oregon Private Security Armed/Unarmed Professional – Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training upon hire, or
  • Private Security Temporary Work Permit PS‑20 upon hire
  • Driving may be necessary as part of this role; caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving; proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request.
  • 1 year experience using personal computer with standard Microsoft applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College‑level coursework in professionally related fields such as criminal justice, social work, psychology or any social science.
  • H.S. Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year Security/law enforcement experience such as corrections, police, reserve and military police.
  • Direct patient care experience in a healthcare industry.

Compensation

Pay Range: $22.44 – $34.33 per hour. Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
