We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Sales Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will combine technical knowledge with strong communication skills to support customers through the full sales cycle—from inquiries and quoting to order processing and after-sales support (including RMAs). This role requires the ability to understand complex technical products, assist customers in selecting solutions, and ensure a seamless experience.

Applied Physics Technologies has two locations. Our headquarters and manufacturing site is in McMinnville, OR, while our site in Hillsboro, OR focuses mainly on research and product development.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customer inquiries, providing technical and product information.
- Prepare and manage customer quotes, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Process sales orders, working closely with production, shipping, and accounting teams.
- Support customers with RMA (Return Material Authorization) requests and coordinate resolution.
- Develop a strong understanding of our product lines (commercial cathodes, liquid metal ion sources, cathode assemblies, emitter repairs, and related services).
- Maintain customer records in ERP systems and track sales activity.
- Collaborate with the technical and engineering team to address customer-specific needs.
- Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly updates to leadership on sales data.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in physics, engineering, materials science, or related technical discipline preferred; equivalent technical sales experience considered.
- 1–3 years of experience in sales support, customer service, or technical sales (experience in electron microscopy or scientific instrumentation is a plus).
- Familiarity with quoting, sales order processing, and RMA workflows.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with CRM/ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to learn and articulate technical concepts effectively.
