LHH is partnering with a privately held food manufacturing organization to hire a Quality Control (QC) Manager to lead execution‑level quality control activities within a production environment. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily QC operations, reinforcing food safety and GMP compliance, and ensuring consistent product quality across all shifts.
This role is onsite at a manufacturing facility located southwest of Portland, Oregon. Compensation is competitive and aligned with experience, with a base salary range of $80,000–$110,000.
Key Areas of Responsibility- Oversee daily Quality Control activities, including in‑process checks, finished product evaluations, sampling programs, and routine testing
- Manage product hold, release, and disposition decisions in alignment with internal standards and food safety requirements
- Maintain a visible presence on the production floor to proactively identify and address quality concerns
- Reinforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation expectations, and food safety protocols across multiple shifts
- Support verification activities related to food safety plans and preventive controls
- Lead investigations into quality deviations and nonconforming product; conduct root‑cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of analytical, sensory, and visual testing
- Maintain complete, accurate, and audit‑ready quality documentation and records
- Oversee calibration, verification, and basic upkeep of QC and lab equipment
- Lead, train, and coach QC team members across shifts, supporting onboarding and performance development
- Partner cross‑functionally with Operations, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Quality leadership to balance production efficiency with quality standards
- Support quality execution for new products, trials, and process changes
- Review QC data and trends to identify risks, recurring issues, and continuous improvement opportunities
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical discipline preferred; equivalent experience considered
- 5+ years of experience in Quality Control or Quality Assurance within a regulated food manufacturing environment
- Prior experience leading or supervising QC personnel required
- Solid working knowledge of GMPs, food safety principles, and quality systems
- Experience with inspection programs, product testing, and quality documentation
- Familiarity with laboratory or quality testing equipment
- Proficiency with common business software and quality systems
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to lead teams in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting
