Overview
Animal Dermatology Clinic – Portland and Animal Dermatology Clinic Vancouver are seeking a part-time Certified Veterinary Technician or experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team 2-3 days per week.
Animal Dermatology Group (ADG) is the largest veterinary dermatology business in the U.S., providing the highest quality of specialty care to pets with acute and chronic skin conditions. ADG has over 40 locations nationwide with over 90 doctors supporting the medical team. ADG participates in drug/product development and clinical trials and has the largest dermatology residency program approved by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate excellent relations with clients and pets in waiting areas and exam rooms.
- Exceed the client’s expectations of service and provide compassionate nursing care as a top priority.
- Record keeping; assist in filling prescriptions and dispensing medications as prescribed by the doctor.
- Housekeeping and maintenance; ability to perform a cursory examination of an animal and recognize potential issues.
- Clearly communicate findings to a doctor and support the team as needed.
- Assist in daily clinic operations and participate in teaching and sharing ideas with colleagues.

Skills and Abilities
(including but not limited to): - Previous experience or training/education in a veterinary facility.
- Friendly, outgoing, people-oriented with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to be cross-trained for front office receptionist duties; telephone and computer skills are necessary.
- A team player willing to learn new techniques, treatments, and adapt to change.
- Willingness to teach others and share ideas; openness to diversity; accountability.
- Able to see the big picture.

Skills: - Phlebotomy
- IV catheter placement
- Preparing and restraining animals during procedures
- Anesthetic induction and monitoring
- Assisting in surgery; suturing cutaneous and subcutaneous tissues
- Applying bandages and/or splints; wound care
- Use of stethoscope and otoscope; advising pet owners on proper care
Physical Requirements
- College or college-equivalent education as required for becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) if applying as CVT
- Dependable attendance; ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Willingness to work long or irregular hours under pressure
- Ability to walk, bend, stand, squat, or reach during an 8-hour day
