A Blue Pearl Surgery Technician is responsible for post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. The role requires a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. A rotating on-call schedule is required once training is completed.

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Utilize the ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exams; accurately count heart rate, pulse, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alert the doctor when abnormal.
• Able to set up intravenous fluids.
• Administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Able to disconnect and connect the patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
