This position offers a unique opportunity to explore the beauty of nature while helping others discover it. The Opportunity: As an Outdoor Guide, you’ll play a vital role in leading and facilitating outdoor adventures for Outdoor Summer Camps Ages 8-16. These activities include hiking, rock climbing, surfing, caving, white water rafting, and more. This position offers growth opportunities, with clear pathways to advance through different tiers based on your experience, skills, and certifications.

Dates for this position are 40 hours/week May 25 - September 4.

Responsibilities

  • Co-Lead Memorable Outdoor Excursions: Guide participants through outdoor adventures while prioritizing safety and enjoyment.
  • Ensure Safety and

    Risk Management:

    Demonstrate sound judgment and quick decision-making in managing potential risks during excursions.
  • Build Community and Connection: Foster a sense of camaraderie and teamwork among participants, creating memorable shared experiences.
  • Maintain Gear and Equipment: Ensure all gear is cleaned, maintained, and properly stored after each excursion, reporting any issues to supervisors.
  • Collaborate and Learn: Participate in team debriefs, trainings, and continuous learning opportunities to enhance program quality.

Qualifications

  • Experienced Outdoor Educator: Bring at least 2 seasons of experience in outdoor education, recreation, or instructional roles. Degree in outdoor recreation, eco-tourism, education, or similar is preferred, but not required.
  • Passionate Outdoor Enthusiast: Demonstrate 2+ seasons of personal or professional experience in a variety of outdoor activities.
  • Effective Communicator: Possess strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse personalities.
  • Reliable Transportation: Ensure access to reliable transportation for travel to course locations.
  • Certifications and Training: Hold active Wilderness First Aid (or higher) required.
  • Preferred

    Certifications:

    AMGA SPI and Red Cross Lifeguard Training, or equivalent certifications preferred for specialized activities.
  • Experience Working with Kids through guiding, education, babysitting, camp counselor experience, tutoring, etc.
  • Background Check and Certification: Pass a background check and obtain Safe Sport certification upon hire.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record with the ability to drive a 15 passenger-van. Van driver training will be provided.
