Job Summary As a Commencement Weekend Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of various events and activities during Commencement weekend. You will work closely with the Events team and other staff members to facilitate the seamless execution of ceremonies and related events.
Important Dates:
- You must be available for a brief training mid to late April.
- You must have availability from April 23rd through May 4th; availability is mandatory for Commencement weekend, May 1st through May 3rd.
- Meals will be provided for student employees working Commencement weekend.
- If you live in a residence hall on campus, your stay will be extended to accommodate your employment at no additional cost.
Core Duties
- Assisting with Setup and Breakdown: Moving tables, chairs, and other equipment to set up event spaces before ceremonies and assisting with breakdown tasks after the events.
- Working Information Booths: Providing information to guests, directing attendees to designated areas, and answering inquiries about event schedules, locations, and other relevant information.
- Providing Excellent Customer Service: Interacting with guests, attendees, and participants in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner, ensuring a positive experience for all involved.
- Being a Great Team Player: Collaborating effectively with other team members to accomplish tasks efficiently and contribute to a positive and cohesive work environment.
- Other relevant duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to scheduled shifts during Commencement weekend.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work outdoors and in various weather conditions.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Job requires students to drive golf carts in order to efficiently support with events and tasks across campus. Golf cart training will be provided and required prior to students’ first shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous customer service or event support experience is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy objects (e.g., tables, chairs) up to 25 pounds as needed.
