Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency and Referral (BVER) is a specialty animal hospital located in Portland Oregon. Our hospital team includes highly skilled veterinarians specializing in Emergency/Critical Care, Radiology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery, Ophthalmology and are supported by dedicated technicians and support staff.
We are hiring Experienced Veterinary Assistants to join our Overnight ICU team! Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency & Referral is looking for experienced an overnight Experienced Veterinary Assistant for our ICU department. We are currently seeking coverage for three 12-hour overnight shifts, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required.
Responsibilities- Provide oversight and treatments to multiple patients admitted for Hospitalization in the ICU
- Perform Diagnostic testing (radiographs, bloodwork, etc)
- Calculation/administration of IV Fluid Therapy with Fluid Additives and CRIs
- Placement and/or maintenance of advanced lines (drum, central).
- Performance and monitoring of Oxygen Therapy including High-Flow Nasal Oxygen
- Performance and monitoring of PRBC and Plasma Transfusions
- Maintain gold-standard patient husbandry.
- Provide support and education to pet owners
- Maintain accurate medical records
- At least 3-5 years of experience working as a Veterinary Assistant in an ICU.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in fast paced environment and handle stressful situations with composure
- Confident in life saving procedures such as CPR/BLS
- Strong/confident phlebotomy and venipuncture skills, advanced catheter and sampling line placement skills preferred
- Assisting and monitoring of surgical and sedated procedures, including monitoring and management of unstable patients.
- Starting: $25+ per hour (based on experience) + $5 differential between 10p-6a
