Overview

Part-Time Certified Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant – Animal Dermatology Group, Inc (ADG).

Animal Dermatology Group (ADG) is the largest veterinary dermatology business in the U.S., providing the highest quality of specialty care to pets with acute and chronic skin conditions. ADG has over 40 locations nationwide. With over 90 doctors, ADG supports clinical practice, research and education in dermatology. ADG participates in drug/product development and clinical trials and has the largest dermatology residency program approved by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology.

Animal Dermatopathology Clinic - Portland is seeking a Part-time Certified Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team 2-3 days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate excellent relations with clients and pets in waiting areas and exam rooms
  • Exceed the client’s expectations of service
  • Provide compassionate nursing care as a top priority
  • Housekeeping/maintenance
  • Perform cursory animal examinations
  • Identify potential patient issues
  • Clearly communicate findings to a doctor
  • Record keeping
  • Fill prescribed medications as directed by the doctor
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities in a veterinary facility (experience or training/education)
  • Friendly, outgoing and people-oriented
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to be cross-trained for front office receptionist duties; telephone and computer skills are necessary
  • Team player willing to learn new techniques and adapt to change
  • Will contribute to a diverse and inclusive environment
Medical Related Skills
  • Phlebotomy
  • IV catheter placement
  • Preparing and restraining animals during procedures
  • Anesthetic induction and monitoring
  • Assisting in surgery
  • Suture of cutaneous and subcutaneous tissues
  • Apply bandages and/or splints
  • Wound care
  • Use of stethoscope and otoscope
  • Advising pet owners on proper care
Education and

Physical Requirements
  • College or college-equivalent education as required to become a Certified Veterinary Technician (if applying as CVT)
  • Dependable attendance is required
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Willingness to work long or irregular hours under pressure
  • Ability to walk, bend, stand, squat, or reach constantly during an 8-hour day
