The Ambulatory Infusion Clinics provide infusion and injection services to patients referred from a variety of specialties including Rheumatology, Neurology, Dermatology, Cardiology and other non-oncology service lines. The infusion staff work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidenced-based, patient centered nursing care. The ten ambulatory non-oncology infusion chairs at the Center for Health & Healing 1 and six chairs at Immunology infusion Physicians Pavilion are open Monday to Friday.
Function/Dutiesof Position
- Demonstrates competency in administration of antibiotics, immunologic, biologics, and other approved infusion therapies.
- Responds to acute illness using assessment skills and technical skills and immediately activating medical support.
- Documents in electronic health record all care provided, phone advice given, teaching provided, and infusions performed.
- Thoroughly documents all nursing activities according to compliance guidelines and on the same day that care is provided. Records medication start and stop times to ensure appropriate billing. Documents clearly and thoroughly so knowledge of patient's condition and any psychosocial factors are clear to the next care provider.
- Coordinates care with all members of care team.
- Anticipates the needs of patients and families. Assesses psychosocial and physical needs of the patient during all interactions. Engages appropriate team members to support the family throughout their experience.
- Minimum two years of nursing experience with acutely ill patients.

Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing Degree from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA). - Internal applicants:
Associate's Degree in Nursing. - Associate Degree of Nursing awarded from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA).
- Current, unencumbered Oregon RN license by 1 week before start date.
- Current BLS certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) by start date.
- Completion of Infusion Nursing Society Fundamentals of Infusion therapy (FIT) modules certification during orientation period.
- Record, track, and assign duties and processes to ensure appropriate billing and revenue generation, when applicable.
- Ability to effectively communicate within a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver's license.
- At least 1-2 years of hospital nursing experience with direct patient care.
- Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Recent Experience working in ambulatory infusion.
- Certified Nurse Infusion certification.
- IV access proficiency.
- Experience working with Central Lines, Port-a-cath.
- CRNI
- INS Membership preferred.
- External candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week.
- Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Specialty Fellowship/Fellowship Learning Pathway or Orientation experience for 3 days-26 weeks depending on the care area. An employment service agreement may apply.
