Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Medical Oncology position with chemotherapy certification and Oregon licensure requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work in a short-term acute care, Magnet-designated, teaching, Level I Trauma Center

• Medical Oncology unit caring for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, sickle cell disease, and symptom management needs

• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3

• Specialized procedures include chemo/biotherapy, stem cell infusions, CAR-T, bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, and blood product transfusions

• Requires central line care and administration/monitoring of chemotherapy

• Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00), including every other weekend

• Floating within scope to Acute Care/IMC units and affiliate hospitals as needed

• Uses Epic for charting; experience preferred but not required

• No on-call responsibilities

• Performs chemotherapy administration and monitoring, as well as care for complex oncology and hematology cases

• Team collaborates on advanced therapies such as stem cell infusions and CAR-T

• Pre-employment modules required (average training time for RNs is 3.75 hours, completed before start date)

• First-time travelers are accepted

• Dress code is any solid color (no prints); scrubs are provided

• Locals are accepted at the same rate

• Return staff must have a 6 month gap before being eligible to return

• Maximum of five approved RTO days for a 13-week contract, with all time off requests required up front

• Parking requires a daily pass for certain hours; public transportation is highly encouraged

Requirements

• Active OR RN license required or pending license with application submitted to licensing board

• Minimum 1 year of medical oncology RN experience required

• Current BLS certification required

• Chemotherapy certification required (ONS not required)

• Experience in chemotherapy administration and monitoring required

• Must provide two manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months, with specific allowances for one older reference if needed

• COVID-19 vaccination required without exemptions

• Must not have any background or license hits
