Are you a friendly, well-organized and enthusiastic person who can represent the Red Cross to our blood donors?
- Blood Donor Ambassadors ensure that blood donors have a pleasant and fulfilling experience, from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave. During a blood drive, whether you’re greeting donors, checking them in to their appointment, answering questions, or thanking them for their donation, your courtesy and professionalism will create a favorable impression that encourages ongoing donor support!
- Location:
Mobile blood drives all over Multnomah County.
You’ll need to meet these important qualifications:
- Manage the reception process by ensuring each donor is warmly greeted and assisted with initial intake according to the appointment priority system.
- May manage the hospitality experience by offering refreshments to donors, thanking them for their contribution, and alerting staff immediately if a donor shows signs of feeling unwell.
- Communicate in a professional manner with diverse populations. Demonstrate excellent customer service and comfort working with people.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and directions consistently and thoroughly.
Opportunity Requirements:
- Background check.
- Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to participate in this opportunity; any volunteer under age 18 requires parental consent.
Time Commitment:
- 1+ shift a month, shifts being 5-6 hours long. 6-month commitment.
- Weekday availability required.

Why is this position so important?
- The Red Cross collects and distributes about 40 percent of our nation’s blood supply. When you help create a fulfilling donation experience and encourage visitors to make a long-term commitment to regular donations, you improve our ability to meet this critical need. Each volunteer shift you take is another opportunity to help save lives.
