Toy Drive Ambassador; age + Referral

Toy Drive Ambassadors support the heart of our holiday efforts by helping collect, receive, and sort toy donations from union partners and community supporters. Volunteers may assist with picking up toys from participating union halls or drop-off locations, greeting donors during scheduled drop-off times, and organizing toys by age and interest categories. Ambassadors also help prepare the toy inventory ahead of our “pick and pack” event, ensuring every child receives a thoughtful and meaningful gift.

This role is ideal for volunteers who enjoy engaging with supporters, being on the move, and contributing to a joyful, community-driven effort that brings holiday magic to hundreds of families.

Toy Drive Ambassadors gain hands‑on experience in donation coordination, community outreach, and holiday support logistics. Volunteers build skills in communication, organization, and teamwork while learning how labor unions and nonprofits collaborate to meet community needs. This role also offers a meaningful opportunity to engage directly with supporters, assist in community‑building efforts, and see firsthand the positive impact collective giving makes for working families.

Union halls, donation collection sites, and/or warehouse prep space depending on shift. Volunteers in this role may be asked to visit union halls around the Portland metro area to help transport toys.

Since 1997, Labor’s Community Service Agency has partnered with more than one hundred unions, labor councils, and the United Way of the Columbia‑Willamette. Labor’s Community Service Agency (LCSA) strengthens the well‑being and financial stability of union members, apprentices, and their families by providing emergency support, resource navigation, and community‑based assistance during times of hardship. Our mission is rooted in solidarity, ensuring that working people never face crisis alone, and that every family in our labor community has access to dignity, stability, and hope.

Toy Drive Ambassadors directly strengthen this mission by helping us collect and process toys that will be gifted to children during a season when financial strain can feel especially heavy. By supporting toy pick‑ups, receiving donations, and preparing toys for distribution, volunteers ensure families receive high‑quality, dignified holiday gifts. Your service not only delivers joy but also reinforces solidarity and care across our community.

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older to participate in this opportunity.
