Production Manager, Operations Manager

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Portland, OR, for a Manufacturing & Purchasing Manager. The role will oversee production operations, including purchasing, planning, scheduling, and managing daily manufacturing processes. Responsibilities include ensuring quality control standards, optimizing production workflows, supervising staff, and maintaining compliance with safety and operational guidelines. The role will also involve addressing and resolving production challenges and driving continuous improvement.
- Production Planning & Scheduling:
Develop and manage production schedules, allocate labor, and coordinate material flow to meet targets. - Operations Oversight:
Supervise daily activities, monitor workflows, manage inventory, and ensure equipment runs smoothly. - Quality & Safety Compliance:
Enforce quality control standards, implement safety protocols, and ensure adherence to SOPs. - Team Leadership:
Hire, train, motivate, and assess production staff, resolving issues and providing support. - Performance & Cost Management:
Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), analyze data, manage budgets, and find cost-saving opportunities. - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with other departments (Engineering, Logistics, HR, Finance) to align production with business objectives. - Continuous Improvement:
Identify and implement new methods, technologies, and strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity - Strategy & Planning:
Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize costs and ensure supply. - Sourcing & Negotiation:
Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers; negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery schedules. - Vendor Management:
Build strong relationships, monitor performance, and resolve issues with suppliers. - Inventory & Operations:
Manage inventory levels, forecast demand, and coordinate with internal teams (like production and finance).
- Strong background in Production Planning and Production Management to ensure effective workflow and scheduling.
- Expertise in Quality Control to maintain high standards across manufacturing processes.
- Experience in Manufacturing Operations and managing day-to-day operational activities efficiently.
- Proficiency in Operations Management, including team leadership, resource allocation, and process improvement.
- Expertise in Purchasing, Sourcing and Vendor management.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced production environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential for this role.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Google Suite for Email, docs, sheets
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets mandatory
- Trainual or similar employee training software
- Other tools used include Hub Spot for CRM and Support, Loom
