At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are currently looking to hire a Quality Control Lab Technician
based in Portland, OR!

Key Responsibilities

As a key member of our team, you will play an important role in driving our mission forward. The following responsibilities outline the core expectations and contributions for this position:

  • You will support swing shift (3 pm – 1:30 am) on a 4x10 schedule (Monday - Thursday), some OT possible (likely on Friday). Also, you should be flexible to adjust schedule as needed, with some minimal OT on a Saturday or Sunday.
  • You will perform bench-top analysis of critical quality parameters in accordance with SOPs and control plan. Record data to assure that in-process samples and finished goods are in compliance to specifications.
  • You will conduct microbiological testing of in-process samples and finished goods in accordance with SOPs and control plan and report results.
  • You will perform and complete line checks
  • You will hold finished product when results fall outside of acceptable range, investigate root cause and propose solutions. Assist in disposition of hold products through retest and /or providing sorting instructions to supply chain.
  • You will perform audits on equipment, materials, products and procedures to assure that the lab is in compliance based on CQA (Corporate Quality Assurance) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) procedures.
  • You will support continuous improvement initiatives in all areas of the plant
  • You will analyze data statistically looking for trends, common and special cause variation.
  • You will ensure you work with personal safety, food safety, and environmental standards, at top of mind. This includes following all established maintenance processes to adhere and uphold all plant technical standards and ensure company compliance with all federal, state, local and company regulations.
Physical Demands
  • This role requires standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • This role requires fine motor repetitive motion (e.g. typing, plating/pipetting, etc.)
  • Periodic squatting, bending, reaching throughout a 10-hour period
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise and temperature variations.
  • Work schedules could include nights, weekends and/or holidays to provide the ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment as business needs dictate.

Ensure adherence to plant standards and procedures (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, HOPE, Danone Behaviors, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE). As a fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate and own the implementation and deployment of IWS system and its pillars (Leadership foundation, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE;
Autonomous Maintenance; planned Maintenance;
Focused Improvement;

About You

Education & Experience:
  • You will have a bachelor’s degree in Science (preferred). Minimum requirement associate degree in Science or minimum two years lab experience.
  • You will have at least one year of experience in food-processing environment, preferred.
