Machine Operator

Join our team as a Machine Operator at a facility that produces bags of cement mixes for concrete, gravel, and sandbags. You will operate the machine responsible for filling bags with cement mix, ensuring that the product meets quality standards. This role involves setting up the machine based on product specifications, placing empty bags over the fill spout, and monitoring the operation to ensure efficiency.

The job is repetitive and can be physically demanding, requiring manual lifting of bags when necessary. The work environment is dusty, and operators are required to wear a full-face respirator for protection.

Responsibilities
  • Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Set stops or guides to specific lengths as indicated by scale, rule, or templates.
  • Observe machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunctions.
  • Review product for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance to ensure product meets quality requirements.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance.
  • Assist other operators in setting up machines and completing necessary tasks to meet deadlines and product completion.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in machine operation and general production.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficiency in basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Capability to frequently stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

Work Environment

The work environment is a small, dusty shop with a team of five people in production. The facility includes various conveyor systems, a dryer/tumbler, tall silos for material storage, bagging machines, and stacking/palletizing machines. The swing shift is from 2pm to 12:30am Monday through Thursday, and from 2pm to 7pm on Friday, with a shift differential offered upon direct hire. The training period begins at 8am.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
