Role Summary
EHS Coordinator at Widmer Brothers Brewery (Portland, OR – onsite). Responsible for the main brewery location and a standalone warehouse, leading an environmental, health, and safety program across both facilities. Develops and implements EHS initiatives, ensures compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations, conducts investigations, and provides training. Partners with senior management to align EHS objectives with business goals and fosters a proactive safety culture.
Responsibilities- Responsible for the main brewery location and a standalone warehouse. They are located about 10 min drive apart but responsible for both facilities
- Leads and drives EHS proactive culture
- Ensures facilities meet state and federal OSHA safety standards and federal/local environmental requirements
- Manages State or OSHA/EPA site inspections
- Knowledge and experience to provide effective training on all appropriate safety/environmental related topics
- Development of EHS improvement initiatives and the daily management of ongoing EHS operations
- Provide leadership to senior management team regarding the EHS strategic objectives and regulatory compliance issues
- Directs activities to conduct investigations, identify root cause and recommend corrective measures
- Represents the facility to external regulatory agencies and supports the negotiation of penalties
- Basic understanding of Workers' Compensation
- Directs activities to compile EHS information and other data as required by Zone, State and Federal agencies (OSHA, EPA, and state/local equivalents)
- Identify unsafe behaviors and unsafe conditions in the workplace using regulatory requirements and best safety practices
- Contributes to the overall needs and objectives of the department
- Team-building – ability to involve employees and the leadership team in the process
- Ability to interpret regulatory requirements (federal, state, and provincial) and apply them to the workplace
- 1-3 years leading or coordinating Safety/Environmental programs
- Familiarity with OSHA/EPA and Oregon State rules and regulations
- Investigative, analysis and problem-solving skills. Six sigma training or equivalent highly desired
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, strong leadership skills, a comfort level with change, and the ability to lead change
- Ability to collaboratively work with all levels of the organization. Can encounter workplace conflicts and build/maintain strong relationships
- Effective decision making and a willingness to use available resources to accomplish goals. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities
- Acts with integrity in all EHS matters to maintain EHS compliance and excellence
- Ability to lead teams and facilitate effective meetings. Independently motivated and takes initiative
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental, or related field
