Business Management, Client Relationship Manager
Overview
A Day in the Life of Director of Accounts at Axiom
It’s 8:30am. You’ve got coffee in hand, Slack humming, and a calendar that’s full, but in a good way, just the way you like it. You start the morning checking in on key client accounts: a global brand with a bold experiential concept and a U.S. brick-and-mortar expansion, and a longtime partner who loves working with Axiom because we do the impossible.
You anticipate needs, spot sales opportunities, identify stumbling blocks, make connections, and guide conversations toward smart, strategic solutions, ensuring not only you but your team make things run seamlessly in the background.
By mid-morning, you mentor an Account Manager through a tricky negotiation. You protect margins and relationships, delivering a solution that works for the client, Axiom, and Axiom’s bottom line.
Later, you participate in a strategy meeting with Sales to translate big ideas into executable plans: scope, budget, timeline, and next steps. You ensure clarity and alignment across all participants.
After lunch, you review forecasts and identify growth opportunities within existing accounts, spotting chances to expand production with typically design-only clients, flagging risks early, and preparing a monthly client overview for the meeting with the Owner and Executive Director.
The afternoon includes a client meeting where you lead with confidence, set the agenda, guide the conversation, and follow up with a clear debrief. You demonstrate how to teach clients to trust you to deliver and that you listen.
Before the day ends, you check in with your team—coaching one Account Manager toward a promotion, setting financial milestones with another, and celebrating a recent win. You’re focused on building people as well as accounts.
Some days you’re in the open office; some days you’re in the shop surrounded by fabrication, tools, and trades. Some days you travel to meet clients across the country. Every day, you have an impact.
