Position Summary
The Executive Director is Q Center’s chief executive, responsible for strategic direction, financial sustainability, organizational health, and key external relationships. The role leads through an equity-centered lens and represents Q Center to partners, funders, and the broader community. Q Center seeks a leader grounded in intersectionality and Just Transition principles, with a focus on anti-racism, disability justice, and trans/intersex liberation.

Core ResponsibilitiesStrategy, Vision, and External Leadership
- Lead development, implementation, and evaluation of a multi-year strategic plan and annual work plans.
- Represent Q Center with regional partners, coalitions, policy leaders, and community stakeholders.
- Advance Q Center’s strategic priorities, including: building a three-year strategic plan; supporting work to identify and secure a community building.
- Ensure organizational practices consistently center racial equity, disability justice, and trans/intersex liberation.

Board Partnership and Governance
- Serve as primary liaison to the Board; partner with Board leadership on governance, priorities, and decision-making.
- Prepare board agendas and provide strategic reports, financial updates, and organizational dashboards.
- Support board recruitment, development, and engagement; ensure nonprofit legal and ethical compliance.
Fundraising and Resource Development
- Lead overall fundraising strategy (grants, foundations, government contracts, donor cultivation, and new revenue strategies).
- Build and sustain relationships with funders, major donors, and community leaders; cultivate prospective donors.
- Approve and sign grant submissions, contracts, memoranda, and project commitments.
Financial Leadership and Organizational Sustainability
- Develop and oversee the annual budget with the Board/Finance Committee; monitor cash flow and financial statements.
- Ensure strong fiscal controls and compliance with audits and reporting requirements.
- Keep the Board informed with clear, timely financial updates and context on the overall financial model.
People Leadership and Organizational Culture
- Directly supervise a small team, act as a strategic thought partner and ensure priorities are met without micromanaging daily tasks.
- Recruit, retain, coach, and evaluate staff; manage workload to prevent burnout.
- Build an internal culture grounded in equity, trauma-informed practice, and anti-oppressive values; set performance expectations and personnel standards.
Minimum Qualifications (Keys to Success)
- Nonprofit executive leadership (5+ years) leading organizations and managing staff/volunteers; ability to implement best practices, interpret financial documents, and anticipate/solve operational challenges.
- Deep commitment to racial equity and intersectional justice for 2
SLGBTQIA+ communities; experience building relationships with communities-of-color-led and identity-specific organizations and coalitions; ability to learn and act on feedback across lines of difference. - Fundraising and grants management experience (including proposal writing, compliance, and reporting) across a range of grant sizes and sources; interest in diversified, creative resource mobilization.
- Inclusive people leadership (power-with approach), collaborative decision-making, and ability to navigate interpersonal conflict and organizational change.
- Strong communication skills with board, staff, partners, and stakeholders; ability to represent the organization clearly and consistently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lived experience within the communities Q Center serves and/or strong knowledge of the 2
SLGBTQIA+ community, plus familiarity (or demonstrated ability to quickly learn) Oregon’s political, social, and cultural landscape. - Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience.
- Benefits include: 40 hour work week, health and dental, 120 hours PTO, and flexible holidays.
