Position: Recreation Supervisor (Supervisor I (Exempt)

Job Appointment: Full-Time, Regular

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday. Work may require a flexible schedule at times, including afternoons, evenings, designated holidays, and/or weekends.

Work Location: In person at the Charles Jordan Community Center, 9009 N Foss Ave, Portland, OR 97203.

About this Position:

Portland Parks & Recreation is seeking candidates for a Recreation Supervisor at Charles Jordan Community Center. Community centers and their programs are a core component of the Recreation Services Division, which includes community centers, sports, aquatics, specialized programs, arts, culture, special events, and enterprise programs such as golf and the Portland International Raceway.

The Recreation Supervisor provides leadership, operational oversight, and relationship management for recreation, enrichment, and leisure activities that serve city residents. This role supports the delivery of inclusive, high‑quality programs that promote community and individual health, reflect Portland’s diversity, and advance social equity through recreation.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development, delivery, and ongoing improvement of recreation, enrichment, and leisure programs
  • Oversee daily operations of assigned community center

    Asm programmes to ensure safe, effective, and welcoming environments
  • Supervise, train, and support a diverse workforce while promoting workplace diversity and positive employee relations
  • Develop, manage, and monitor program budgets and related fiscal activities
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, policies, and operational requirements
  • Coordinate and костят effective working relationships with community members, groups, organizations, and partners
  • Conduct proactive communication, marketing, and outreach to increase awareness and participation in programs
  • Promote community and individual health through inclusive, culturally responsive recreation opportunities
  • Apply an equity‑focused approach to program planning and service delivery that recognizes recreation as a tool for social equity
