Position Summary

. The Custodian plays a critical role in providing a clean and safe environment for staff and clients at our facilities, supporting the mission of Fora Health Treatment & Recovery.

• General housekeeping on a regular basis.
• Sanitizing rooms with bleach solution or approved chemicals and using a steam cleaner when appropriate.
• Assisting with laundry duties for Detox & Residential teams.
• Cleaning rooms, hallways and other public spaces at all facilities.
• Responding to accidents and custodial emergencies as needed.
• Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms.
• Damp mopping floors, halls and stairwells.
• Spot cleaning walls, doors, and partitions as needed.
• Refilling bathroom dispensers as needed.
• Periodic cleaning of the building exterior, sidewalks, and windows using a pressure washer and window cleaning equipment.

• Help maintenance workers with tasks such as moving furniture, light repair, painting, and using hand tools (drills, saws, hammers, screwdrivers, etc.).
• Additional tasks and duties as assigned.

• Able to walk up and down stairs frequently and lift/move furniture up to 75 lbs.
• Capable of identifying and performing basic assessment of janitorial issues.
• Must be able to work on a stepladder and clean overhead areas.
• Ability to work across multiple Portland‑area facilities.
• Bilingual applicants encouraged.

• Employees with a history of substance use disorder must provide certification of at least six months of sobriety.
• Must pass pre‑employment or for‑cause drug tests.
• Must pass DHS criminal background check.
• Position requires regular connectivity to work via cell phone to answer questions and respond to contacts.

• Works primarily indoors with infrequent travel between sites.
• Possible exposure to communicable diseases (TB, Hepatitis A, B, C, HIV).
• Possible exposure to upset, angry, severely traumatized, or emotionally dysregulated individuals.
• Handling hazardous chemicals (painting, cleaning, landscaping supplies); personal protective equipment provided.
• Use of steam cleaning machine and pressure washer.
