Job Description:
LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a nonprofit organization in Portland, Oregon, to find a temporary Immigration Attorney to join their team! This hybrid position requires two days onsite each week and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in a supportive, mission-driven environment.
In this role, you will manage a caseload of 100+ active immigration matters and provide compassionate, high-quality legal services to immigrant and refugee clients. The position includes both affirmative and defensive casework, as well as participation in community education and outreach initiatives that further the organization’s mission to support immigrant and refugee communities.
Responsibilities- Independently manage a full immigration caseload, including consultations, legal advice, and full-scope representation
- Handle both affirmative (e.g., naturalization, adjustment of status, asylum, family petitions, TPS) and defensive (e.g., removal defense, motions, SIJS predicate orders) matters
- Conduct legal research, prepare filings, and maintain accurate case management records
- Communicate regularly with clients, staff, and government agencies regarding ongoing cases
- Contribute to community education events and legal clinics as needed
- Juris Doctorate (JD) and active license to practice law in Oregon or another U.S. state.
- 2+ years of immigration law experience, including direct representation of clients
- Excellent communication, organizational, and research skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required (interpreters available)
- Must pass a background check
