Overview

Sightline Intelligence is the leader in onboard video processing and AI-enabled solutions for unmanned and autonomous systems. We support defense, security, and government customers with mission-critical software that enables detection, tracking, classification, and actionable intelligence at the edge. As Sightline enters its next phase of growth, we are seeking a Marketing Director to scale our brand presence, sharpen our strategic positioning, and accelerate growth across domestic and international defense markets.

Purpose of Position

The Marketing Director is responsible for leading the Sightline Intelligence marketing strategy, aligning with the company's annual growth objectives. This hands-on role partners with Sales, Business Development, Product, and Engineering to translate technical differentiations into compelling market narratives.

The ideal candidate brings defense-sector knowledge and strategic ability to deliver bold, credible marketing that engages technical buyers, UAS operators, and decision-makers.

Essential Job Functions

Defense Market Intelligence, Strategy & Positioning
  • Own Sightline's understanding of priority defense markets, including Group 1 (FPV & Loitering Munitions), Group 2 UAS, Counter-UAS, and Geospatial Intelligence applications.
  • Develop and maintain market segmentation, buyer personas, competitive intelligence, and strategic positioning frameworks.
  • Translate customer needs, drivers, and trends into clear messaging, campaign themes, and GTM priorities.
  • Partner with Sales and BD to ensure marketing strategy aligns with goals, priorities, and regional market focuses (U.S. and International.)
Brand Leadership & PR
  • Lead Sightline's brand strategy, ensuring consistency and differentiation across all external touchpoints while positioning the company as a trusted expert in onboard video processing, AI-enablement, and edge autonomy.
  • Drive thought leadership initiatives including white papers, industry articles, and executive visibility.
  • Identify PR opportunities that elevate Sightline's profile within the defense and autonomy ecosystem.
  • Plan and execute outbound marketing programs that drive engagement with our target audiences and supports pipeline acceleration.
  • Own strategy and participation for trade shows and industry events. Partner with sales to ensure we are well positioned for networking opportunities.
  • Spearhead marketing partnerships with OEMs, integrators, and strategic partners.
  • Oversee content development of website messaging, product collateral, case studies, and launch materials.
  • Provide clear strategic direction, prioritization, and development support for internal and external marketing resources.
  • Manage third-party relationships across PR, digital, branding, and social content creation.
  • Advance marketing operating processes, metrics, and rhythms that fuel execution, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & GTM Enablement
  • Deliver sales materials, including messaging frameworks, campaign assets, and competitive positioning tools.
  • Support product launch planning, roadmap communication, and customer-facing narratives.
Primary Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, engineering, or equivalent applicable experience.
  • Experience:

    Seeking 8+ years of progressive marketing experience, including experience in B2B, defense, aerospace, autonomy, or adjacent high-technology markets.
  • Campaign Generation

    Experience:

    Proven ability to translate technical products into compelling, credible value propositions. Relevant experience developing and executing strategic marketing plans aligned to business growth initiatives.
  • Collaboration:

    Comfortable in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Location and Travel:
    This role is based out of our Portland, Oregon office. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. Willingness to travel periodically for trade shows, industry events, and customer engagements (estimated 20-30% travel.)
Beneficial Experience
  • Direct experience marketing to U.S. DoD, allied defense, or national security customers.
  • Experience leading or scaling marketing teams in a growth-stage company.
  • Familiarity with account-based marketing (ABM) strategies and enterprise sales cycles.
  • Experience working with PR, branding, or demand-generation agencies.
  • Comfort working closely with technical teams and understanding software-driven value propositions.
