We’re on the hunt for a high-impact Back-End Lead Engineer to help power the next generation of law enforcement technology. This isn’t just another backend job—you’ll be at the heart of a real-time, mission-critical platform used by public safety professionals nationwide. You’ll architect bulletproof systems, lead with technical precision, and move fast alongside a tight-knit, driven team. You’ll work closely with the CTO and cross-functional teams to shape backend architecture, mentor developers, and ensure BLTN is fast, secure, and always‑on.

This is a hands‑on role with leadership scope—ideal for someone who wants to build and scale real‑world systems that make a difference.

• Architect & Build:
  Lead the development of scalable backend services using Python, FastAPI, Postgre
  
  SQL, and Open Search.
• Own Performance:
  Optimize database queries, caching, and infrastructure to ensure lightning fast responses at scale
• Lead & Mentor:
  Conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance, and help grow the backend engineering culture.
• Deploy & Operate:
  Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines; own the uptime and reliability of our backend services.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally:
  Work with product, design, and front‑end teams to deliver features that meet user needs and agency constraints.
• Security & Compliance:
  Help maintain data integrity and secure access controls in alignment with CJIS and other compliance requirements.

• 6+ years of backend development experience, including experience scaling production applications.
• Deep expertise in Python.
• Strong experience with AWS (especially RDS/Postgre
  
  SQL, Open Search, Lambda, ECS).
• Proficiency in SQL and No
  
  SQL alike.
• Familiarity with CI/CD best practices
• Experience designing for security, fault tolerance, and observability.
• Prior startup or mission‑critical environment experience strongly preferred.
• Bonus:
  Experience working with or around public safety, govt‑tech, or regulated environments.
