Department OverviewThe Intercultural Psychiatric Program (IPP) has been providing outpatient mental health care, including case management, group and individual therapy, and medication management support to people in Oregon whose first language is other than English, since 1977.
IPP is one of the longest standing cross-cultural psychiatry programs for refugees in the country and has been honored by the American College of Psychiatrists and the American Psychiatric Association. The team includes about 9 psychiatrists and/or psychiatric residents, 19 QMHA or QMHP-level clinicians, and an administrative staff of four, serving roughly 1,200 patients.
Wage Range:$31.17 - $42.16 per hour
Position ResponsibilitiesThis part-time role collaborates with staff psychiatrists within an integrated team to provide comprehensive, culturally sensitive mental health services.
Responsibilities include:
- Individual and family counseling, group therapy, case management, client intake, outreach, skills training, and resource connection.
- Providing cultural and language interpretation to support Cambodian-speaking patients.
- Offering clinical case management and support to Cambodian-speaking patients and others as directed by the supervisor.
Required:
- Fluency in Cambodian (Khmer).
- Meet one of the following educational/licensing criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or occupational therapy with Oregon licensure, or
- Graduate degree in psychology, social work, recreational, art, or music therapy, or behavioral science.
- Master’s degree in social work or counseling with Oregon licensure (LCSW, LPC).
- MHACBO QMHP Certification.
- Experience in social services or mental health as a QMHP.
- Knowledge of refugee and immigrant communities and cultural competence.
