Position OverviewEmerging Tech is seeking qualified MRI Technologists to provide diagnostic imaging services for the VA Portland Healthcare System. This role supports Veterans by producing high-quality MRI images used in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. Technologists will work under the direction of radiologists and follow VA protocols and national standards for patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Operate MRI equipment to produce diagnostic images in accordance with radiologist orders
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during imaging procedures
- Maintain accurate patient records and document imaging procedures in the VA system
- Follow all VA policies, including infection control, radiation safety, and patient privacy
- Participate in quality assurance activities and comply with performance standards
- Provide coverage for assigned shifts, including rotating weekends, holidays, and potential overtime, on-call, or callback as required
- Shifts may be 8, 9, or 10 hours, with typical schedules including:
- 8-hour shifts, five days per week
- 9-hour shifts, rotating four- or five-day weeks
- 10-hour shifts, typically four-day weeks
- Minimum assignment: 2 days (16 hours) with potential for longer assignments based on VA needs
- Completion of an accredited MRI or Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist program
- Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MRI
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience operating MRI equipment in a hospital or clinical setting
- Experience performing MRI imaging within the last six months
- Evidence of current professional liability insurance
- Availability to work onsite for at least six months after start date
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, lift (15–100 pounds), and carry moderately heavy items as required for patient care and equipment handling
- Manual dexterity for handling equipment and performing imaging procedures
- Mental and emotional stability to work with patients in clinical settings
